15 Smarter Choices at Starbucks

27

Since it’s Monday and I stayed up way too late watching the Oscars last night (still getting over the Best Picture craziness!), I thought I’d do a post on that haven of caffeine we all know and love – Starbucks.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of all things coffee, and I have yet to meet a coffee shop I didn’t love, simply for the fact that they can meet my need for a delish snack and cup of joe.  But Starbucks seems to be the one I return to time and again.  It might have something to do with the fact that there is now a Starbucks on every street corner in America.
I’ve rounded up 15 smarter choices at the Bucks, in both the food and drink categories.  Before I share the list, I will give this PSA: smarter starts with portion sizes.  Thus, the calorie content for each drink is for the tall size.  I didn’t count calories for adding in milk or sugar (you can Google that if needed!), but this should give you a pretty good guide to ordering smarter.
Also, I am not a person who judges the other customers at Starbucks if their order has 17 modifications or specifications, but I know there are those that do. Here, I’m keeping it as simple as possible.  You can order each of these drinks with relatively no modifications and still feel good about them.  And maybe without angering the sassy, under-caffeinated person in line behind you.
Drinks:
Coffee Frappuccino – 180 calories
Teavana Shaken Iced Passion Tango Tea – 0 calories
Iced Coffee with Classic Syrup – 60 calories
Soy Chai Tea Latte – 180 calories
Cafe Americano – 10 calories
Brewed Coffee (5 calories) or Tea – 0 calories
Ethos Bottled Water – 0 calories (and let’s be honest, way better for your body than something caffeinated.  But I know the struggle is real, so no judgment if you just gotta have it.)
Food:
Seasonal Harvest Fruit Blend – 100 calories
Whole Grain Oatmeal with Fresh Blueberries – 180 calories
Ham & Cheese Savory Foldover – 250 calories
Fresh Blueberries & Honey Evolution Fresh Greek Yogurt Parfait – 250 calories
Egg & Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich – 280 calories
Spinach, Feta, & Cage-free Egg White Wrap – 290 calories
Chocolate Cake Pop – 140 calories (for days when you wanna treat yo self!)
Oatmeal Cookie – 290 calories (for days when you wanna treat yo self a little more!)
Hopefully there’s something on the list that you love…if you know before you go, it’s typically easier to make smart choices!  What’s your fave thing to order at Starbucks?
