My sister just told me this morning that a stranger paid for she and her husband’s lunch the other day and left – before they had a chance to say thank you.  On purpose.  The waitress told them the kind customer had been scanning the restaurant to decide whose lunch they would pay for; they chose my sister and her husband because they had their newborn son with them and they figured they didn’t get out much.  How sweet is that?
I think a special part of us comes alive when we do something to love or serve someone else, expecting nothing in return.  I’m certain it blesses the giver as much as the recipient (probably more so!).  So in the spirit of  the holidays, I’m sharing 401 random acts of kindness with you today.  How amazing would it be if we each picked one and completed it this week?  My encouragement would be for us all to set a few minutes aside to bless someone else who won’t see it coming.  It doesn’t get more merry than that.
