I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  I’m back today with a big ol’ list of ways to be creative.  “Why should I be creative?” you might be asking.  Good question.  Because creativity is a cure for perfectionism.  And nobody likes perfectionism – if they’re honest, that is.  If you’re the perfectionist you don’t like perfectionism because you know you can never really be all the way perfect.  If you’re hanging out with a perfectionist, you don’t like perfectionism because they take the fun out of fun things by trying to make them perfect instead.  And honestly…perfection is boring, am I right?
Even if you don’t consider yourself a perfectionist, creating is so good for you.  Really, it’s good for everyone.  Being creative lets you tap into your inner kid…remember that little kid?  The one who would finger paint, make salt dough creations, and sing their little heart out, dance like nobody’s watching, and write the best poems? Yeah, basically your kindergarten self.  That was one cool little person.  It has maybe been a while since you have been acquainted with that person…that amazing person who just created because it was…wait for it…FUN.
Yep, that was the only reason.
So many adults feel like creating is childish, or self-indulgent, or that they don’t have time to be creative.  Well, that’s just some ridiculous tom-foolery, Besties.  We all have time for what we prioritize.  Take a look at the list of creativity inspiration below and think of one or two ways you would like to be creative this week.  Then, schedule a time to do it!  Print yourself a lil self care planner (see sidebar) and get going!
1. Play an instrument
2. Sing!!
3. Act…grab a script and go for it.  Or try out for a production in your community.
4. Cook or bake something
5. Write poetry
6. Journal…try bullet journaling or hand lettering to up the creative factor
7. Paint
8. Color (try a printable here) or a coloring book like this
9. Try your hand at ceramics
10. Knit
11. Cross stitch
12. Take some photos, even just on your smartphone! Experiment with filters.  Just have fun with it.
13. Dance!!
14. Design an outfit on Polyvore
15. Make a mood board to redecorate a room in your home
16. Make invitations for your next party
17. Make a collage or shadowbox
18. Plan a garden or your landscaping
19. Do a craft with or without kids! Check Pinterest for ideas.
20. Start a blog! 🙂
21. Scrapbook
22. Make a photo book online
23. Plan the decor for your next party
24. Draw with sidewalk chalk
25. Do some origami
26. Tie dye a shirt or scarf
27. Make jewelry
28. Bedazzle something – you know you want to!
29. Try nail art
30. Make a fleece blanket – they’re super easy and practical!
Henri Matisse said, “creativity takes courage.”  It sure does.  It is courageous to fight those pesky perfectionistic tendencies and just have fun creating.  But you can do it, Besties…and you’ll be oh so glad you did.
So what do you think?  Did you find some creativity inspiration that you’re excited about here?  Let me know in the comments!
